April Showers Bring Sesame Flowers

Greetings from the Sesame Place Horticulture Department, you can think of us as Elmo’s Gardening Green Thumbs! We are working very hard to get ready for Opening Day on Saturday, April 28th. We are busy planting over 15,000 colorful annuals and perennials in flowerbeds throughout the Park. We also have nearly 200 hanging baskets and 100 planter pots to add even more color! All of our beautiful trees have regained their leaves and are ready to provide shade for all our guests who visit!

If you have visited Sesame Place in the past, you are familiar with all of our topiary friends; you know the character sculptures made completely of plants! Well, all of our topiaries are planted and wearing theirs smiles, just waiting to have their pictures taken with all of you!

When you visit Sesame Place, check out a few of our favorite gardening spots! In Twiddlebug Land, we have planted ornamental peppers, tomatoes and fresh herbs all around the Marble Bag and Silly Sand Slides. The peppers are called “Medusa” and Sangria”… and we encourage guest snacking! Oh, and no worries, we choose varieties that are not spicy!

Over on Sesame Island, we planted colorful Crotons and Tropical Hibiscus. Just gazing at these plants, you will think you have left Langhorne, Pa and escaped to a Caribbean island! And of course, you can’t miss our Circle Planter found by the Front Gate in our Entry Plaza. If you visited us during our Very Furry Christmas Event, you will remember we had a huge Christmas tree in the Circle Planter and all of our topiary friends were resting for the winter. All of our topiary friends are back and ready to greet you as you enter the Park! So whether, you are coming to Sesame Place for the first time or returning for another exciting season, all of our beautiful landscape is ready and waiting for you to enjoy! Sesame Place is ready for its 2012 Season… Are you?!
