My name is Dawn Merz; I have been involved with the Sesame Place Horticulture Team since Spring of 1997. I satisfied my internship work hours for Delaware Valley College by working at Sesame Place from 1997-2000. When I graduated from DelVal in 2000 with a degree in Ornamental Horticulture/Floral Design, I began working at Sesame Place as the Full Time Assistant Manager of Horticulture. Beyond the day-to-day activities of the department, I helped to develop a comprehensive plant list, charting every flowerbed, pot and hanging basket in the Park. I have also been heavily involved in the Topiary Program at Sesame Place. In 2005, I left Sesame Place to pursue a teaching career at Mercer County Community College. I teach Herbaceous Plant Materials and Floral Design I and II. In 2006, I switched gears and became a full time mom, and still taught as an adjunct at MCCC. In 2007, I returned to the Sesame Place Horticulture Department in a seasonal position. Presently, I work one day a week at the Park, one day a week at MCCC and 24/7 at home with my boys Avery 5 ½ and Corey 1 ½. It is an amazing feeling to see my boys enjoying the Park that I have been involved with for so many years.
